Many women live with a mental-health condition and a substance-use concern at the same time. Each can make the other harder to manage, which is why treating only one so often does not hold.
This is called dual diagnosis, or co-occurring disorder treatment. IKANN Wellness is a fully Jewish women’s center in South Florida providing outpatient care that addresses mental health and addiction together, in one plan.
IKANN Wellness does not have a physical treatment location in Lakewood, NJ. We work with women and families from Lakewood who are considering Florida-based care. Conversations with our team are private and confidential.
Dual diagnosis care may be worth asking about when:
Level of care is always determined through a confidential assessment, and IKANN Wellness will say plainly when a woman needs a different starting point.
Co-occurring concerns are treated together rather than handed between separate providers.
When alcohol or medication is used to quiet worry, treating the anxiety is part of reducing the reliance.
Low mood and substance use often feed each other. Integrated care works on both.
Trauma-informed care addresses painful experiences that may sit beneath substance use.
Concerns about eating and body image are addressed within the broader plan of care.
Support for women who hurt themselves, with attention to safety and coping.
Therapy, group work, and family involvement are planned together and adjusted as a woman progresses.
IKANN Wellness provides outpatient levels of care. The right level of care is determined through a confidential assessment, not assumed in advance.
Structured daytime treatment, several hours a day, most days of the week, for women who need significant clinical support. Also called PHP or day programming.
A lighter weekly schedule than PHP that continues the clinical work while a woman rebuilds daily routines and responsibilities.
Intensive outpatient care in the evening for women who need their days free. Attended in person in South Florida.
One-on-one sessions that help a woman understand her patterns, build coping skills, and work toward stability.
Shared experience and guided discussion with other women in a private, understanding setting.
Helps loved ones understand the recovery process and stay connected while a woman is in care in South Florida.
Care is trauma-informed and built around the whole woman, not a single diagnosis.
EMDR therapy helps women process distressing memories and trauma-related distress in a structured, paced way.
Emotional safety, trust, and choice shape how care is delivered at every stage.
Complementary approaches that support whole-person healing alongside clinical care.
Experiential support that helps with emotional awareness and regulation.
Women and families from Lakewood who are considering Florida-based care can expect a supportive, fully Jewish, women-focused environment.
IKANN Wellness provides the clinical mental-health and recovery services. For eligible women, when appropriate, Yacholet, a Jewish nonprofit in Hollywood, Florida, may provide therapeutic supportive living, mentoring, life-skills development, Jewish community connection, and practical support. Kosher food is available through Yacholet’s supportive living environment.
Whether this kind of support is appropriate for a particular woman is discussed during the confidential assessment. Families can learn more at yacholet.org.
Women with co-occurring concerns often benefit from a setting where they can focus fully on care, away from the routines and pressures that were part of the difficulty. Distance can also protect privacy in a close-knit community.
