IKANN WELLNESS

When Residential Support Is Needed

Sometimes outpatient therapy — even intensive outpatient — isn't enough. When your environment is part of the problem, when safety is a concern, or when you need 24/7 support to stabilize, a safe residential environment becomes essential to healing.

Residential support may be needed when you're experiencing:

  • Transitional care needed after psychiatric hospitalization
  • Unsafe home environment or abusive relationship
  • Severe depression, self-harm, or suicidal thoughts
  • Early stages of addiction recovery requiring structure
  • Postpartum psychosis or severe postpartum depression
  • Profound isolation or lack of community support

What Is Yacholet-IKANN?

Yacholet (יכולת — "capability") is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by Sarah Ruza in 2020. The organization provides safe, faith-based residential housing for Jewish women navigating mental health crises, addiction recovery, and life transitions.

The Yacholet-IKANN partnership brings together two complementary organizations: IKANN Wellness provides the clinical therapy and psychiatry, while Yacholet provides the residence and 24/7 care coordination. Together, they offer a seamless continuum of care — from the moment you wake up in a safe, kosher home to the moment you complete your clinical programming and return to a supportive community in the evening.

The Healing Environment

Yacholet homes are designed to feel like home — not an institution. Warm, welcoming spaces where healing happens naturally in the context of Jewish community life.

Safe, Home-Like Spaces

Two residential homes in Hollywood, FL — comfortable, clean, and designed to feel like a real home. Private and semi-private rooms. Walking distance to shul, kosher restaurants, and community resources.

Kosher Meals

Glatt kosher kitchen under mashgiach supervision. Shabbat meals with challah, wine, and traditional foods. Communal cooking encouraged. Chalav Yisrael, pas Yisrael, mehadrin standards maintained.

Shabbat at Home

Candle-lighting every Friday. Festive Shabbat meals together. Optional prayer services. Complete rest — no clinical programming. A genuine atmosphere of kedushah and community.

Holistic Therapies

Equine therapy, art therapy, sound healing, and nature-based activities — all in tzniut-respectful settings. Learn more about holistic therapies →

Community & Connection

One of the most powerful aspects of Yacholet is the natural community that forms among residents — women who understand each other's world, share similar values, and support each other through the healing process.

Peer Support

Living alongside other Jewish women in recovery creates a natural support system. Shared meals, shared Shabbos tables, and mutual encouragement are part of daily life — not programmed, but organic.

Rosh Chodesh Circles

Monthly gatherings celebrating the new moon — a time for reflection, connection, and celebration of Jewish feminine spirituality. Optional and open to all residents.

Learning Opportunities

Voluntary peer-led circles on Tanakh, Talmud, and Mussar. Torah study as a complement to clinical treatment — never a replacement, always an option.

Community Integration

Located in a Jewish community with walking distance to shul, kosher restaurants, and community resources. Women are supported in maintaining their connection to Jewish life throughout their stay.
