Confidential, Specialized Care for Women Firefighters Facing PTSD, Trauma, and Occupational Stress
At IKANN Wellness in Fort Lauderdale, we understand the unique mental health challenges you face as a firefighter. Our women-focused treatment programs provide a confidential, trauma-informed environment where you can heal without judgment and return to operational status stronger than before.
As a firefighter, you witness trauma that most people never experience. The cumulative weight of critical incidents, loss, and life-or-death decisions takes a profound toll—even when you're trained to stay strong.
The statistics tell a sobering story:
If you're experiencing any of these, you're not failing—you're experiencing a normal response to abnormal, cumulative trauma. And you deserve specialized help.
Generic therapy doesn't work for firefighters. You need a provider who understands:
Our clinicians are trained in first responder mental health and understand the unique challenges of fire service:
For women in firefighting, our women-only treatment environment offers unique benefits:
Your treatment at IKANN Wellness is completely confidential and separate from your department:

92% of firefighters cite stigma as a barrier to seeking help. The belief that asking for help is a "sign of weakness" keeps too many firefighters suffering in silence.
But here's the truth: Seeking help is the strongest thing you can do.
You've spent your career saving others. Now it's time to save yourself.

No. Your treatment is completely confidential under HIPAA. We will not contact your department unless you request it or there is an imminent safety risk (which we would discuss with you first).
In most cases, outpatient treatment (IOP or individual therapy) does not require time off work and will not affect your operational status. We work with you to schedule treatment around your shifts. If you need time off for intensive treatment, we can provide documentation and coordinate with your department (with your permission).
Yes. Our clinicians have specialized training in first responder mental health and have worked with firefighters, paramedics, and other emergency personnel. We understand the culture, the cumulative trauma, and the unique stressors of your profession.
No. Early intervention is key. You don't have to be in crisis to benefit from treatment. If you're noticing changes in your mood, sleep, relationships, or job performance, that's reason enough to reach out.
That's okay. EMDR therapy allows you to process traumatic memories without having to describe them in detail. And our holistic therapies (equine, art, music) provide alternative ways to process trauma without talking at all.
No. IKANN Wellness is a women-focused treatment center. All group therapy is with other women, which many find creates a safer, more open environment—especially for women in male-dominated professions.
Treatment length varies based on individual needs. IOP typically lasts 4–8 weeks, though some clients stay longer. Individual therapy can be short-term or ongoing. We'll work with you to create a plan that fits your needs and schedule.
