Community Living and Recovery at Ikann Wellness.

Ikann Wellness.’s community-based programs provide daily therapeutic treatment and psychiatric rehabilitation services to support the recovery of our members. Commonly referred to as our “Traditional Program,” members reside in an apartment complex that is coupled with a recovery center on the housing’s premises or a location nearby.

We currently have housing and recovery program locations in Philadelphia and Reading, Pennsylvania, Wilmington, NC, as well as Nashville and Knoxville, Tennessee.

Each program is comprised of approximately 30 members who live in apartments or town homes that Ikann Wellness  rents. Members share furnished living quarters with up to two other roommates who are also Ikann Wellness  members. Most neighbors of Ikann Wellness  members are not associated with our program. This reflects social reality, reinforces normalcy and responsibility, reduces stigma and facilitates community integration.

Our programs have nearby off-site locations that serve as the activity hub of the community. This is where life skills workshops, wellness programming, individual and group sessions, and community meetings occur.

Ikann Wellness ’s housing selection is carefully made with members in mind, as well as their ability to access public transportation. Staff members are on-site at the recovery center daily, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and all members have access to a 24/7 skills coaching/crisis response system. We utilize evidence-based treatment, including DBT, as a core part of our programming.

Utilizing the combination of reality-based interventions, individual and group support sessions, and frequent community meetings, Ikann Wellness  places a strong emphasis on therapeutic community.

Treatment is multi-faceted and clinically focused, which can include:

  • Full integration of psychiatry, therapy, behavioral supports, and recovery that is tightly coordinated with physical healthcare providers
  • Evidence-based practices such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Psychiatric Rehabilitation, Family Engagement, and Positive Behavior Supports
  • Educational, vocational, and WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan) supports
  • Competency-based, milestones-driven achievements such as work readiness, community reintegration, capability to self-manage medications, finances, recovery, and personal relationships
  • Direct support for providers and caregivers of members who have been identified as needing training and/or consultation to support the individual effectively
